This was painted specifically for a "Blessing Way"... it's kind of like a baby shower but much more spiritual and emotional. We were each supposed to bring a candle for the mother to light at the babies birth so I painted one special just for her. It was a neat experience.

So the funny thing about this painting is that, despite the original title (which was "Contained Rage" due to T.H.E. mood I was in when I painted her), it was deeply admired by my peaceful and loving neighbor. Because of her comments about the piece she made me see the painting, and the situation, differently.

This is the first painting on canvas we have let go from the collection. I am moving into a more comfortable place of releasing them to the wild.

This is not a competition....

But I'm ahead!

Knocked out two more paintings today and am working on posting some more. Hopefully I'll be able to do that tonight.

You can't really tell from this photo, but the painting has some really cool brush work in the red background. I painted fallen leaves all around the heart.
