Tangle
18" x 36"
Oil on Canvas

This one is my favorite so far. inspiration, paint, magic.
I especially like the background. The angle of the photo is necessary because the paint is being very reflective while it is still wet. It'll probably retain some of that reflective character when it dries. I hope so, i really like the way this turned out. In total about 3 hours work.
"Within" (#5 of 100)
So the last piece I posted, "Afire" may need a new title. Once it dried, the oranges weren't so orange... they were more peachy. *sigh* The experiment marches on.
Here's # 5...alllll finished! And I'm not happy with it! Which I guess is a good thing, as it will make me try something else.

Heart Works in Progress

I've got a herd of canvai (isn't that plural for canvas? I like the ring of it... like octopi) meaning that there are quite a few that I have the first stage finished, yet need dry time before the next application. Serious dry time.
Will and I made an agreement that we could not add a piece to the "series" until it was completed. Like... "you seriously don't think you can add that to the series just because you got the frame work done and you have a picture in your head and it won't take that long to finish it" completed, were talking touched up and everything completed.

It being Winter time and wet like a cheap riesling here in the Pacific North West, I honestly don't know how long it's going to be before I can get these little buggers finished. So I wanted to post them because I really am working on the project and even got to paint for like six hours last weekend. It was SCHWEET!

FWIW, I dislike the "title" Untitled. This painting has no title. If that bothers you, you can soothe your ego by sending me wads of cash. In return, I will send you this painting. It will come with a blank sticker on the back. You can then use a favorite writing utinsel (crayon, marker or ballpoint pen) to call the painting whatever the hell you want.
Just make sure you tell me what it is so people'll know what to look for when it comes time for the retrospective.

Heart's A-fire (#4 of 100)
"Afire"#4 in Series of 100

This piece is actually the 2nd of a smaller series within the project and it goes with "Liberal". I am doing a triptychc of sorts. Three hearts with tongue in cheek meaning:
"Heart's a fire"
"Bleeding Heart Liberal" (notice how it's red, white and blue... but with a twist.)
and the third???
Well I've got some humor in mind... we'll see how it pans out.... stay tuned!
One thing I did learn with this painting is that the cool drippy effect doesn't work so well with the tube of yellow that I have. I'll need to touch it up a little bit later because I overworked it in some areas. But for now it just needs to dry and rest. It's all a learning process!
(HA!!! I posted my 4th painting before Will could post his... not that it's a competition or anything.)

The Project
So I got the smack down from a dear friend. She was right... I need to do art. She also passed along this nugget of wisdom (in a nut shell) that we are embarking on:
Pick a subject and do a series. Do 100 of something. Test the boundaries and expand your technique within the confines of a subject. Just do it.
So here we go. Here's our studio:
Husbang is doing 100 Fishes.
I am doing 100 Hearts.
We are on the Jesus Plan.... 100 loves and fishes.
